There are several steps to ensure a smooth semester after your course begins. Check out the below resources to help the semester flow smoothly.
The demo student allows you to see the course exactly as a student would. This can be helpful in checking dates on your content and ensuring the content is working as expected for your students.
You may have students with accommodations in your courses. In some cases, these accommodations include extended time when completing timed quizzes. If you have any questions about requested accommodations, please reach out to your campus Accessibility Coordinator.
Faculty Tools is a collection of resources to help you track and communicate with your students, including sending them SParCs. Use Faculty Tools to learn more about your students and to reach out to students that may not be engaging in the course as expected.
Faculty are required to report attendance after Week 1, Week 2, and at the 60% mark. You will receive emails to your SPC email with specific deadlines based on your course.
- Send Regular Communications to Your Students via Email
Email is the most common way to communicate with your students. Consider emailing your students at the start of each week/module/unit to let them know what to expect, provide any links to Zoom meetings, and any additional information that might help them navigate the course. At the end of each week/module/unit, you may also send updates about when work will be graded, a reminder to check their grades, and any important upcoming dates such as midterms or finals.
- Grade Submissions
Grading will vary depending on the course. The links below provide the most basic steps for grading a dropbox and a discussion. You may also consider leaving Video Feedback for your students. This can especially be useful on higher stakes assignments.
