Faculty Tools was designed to help faculty easily communicate with students, right from MyCourses. The tools are part of a system called SParC which stands for SPC’s Pertinent And Reliable Communicator. The goal behind Faculty Tools is to streamline processes faculty complete daily to engage student. This User Guide reviews each tab of the Faculty Tools area found on your course's home page.

Recommended Browsers: Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox

Overview of Tabs:

overview of tabs.png

  • Grade Check: Easily check and filter current grade standings for all students. This tool is also equipped with quick click notification and the ability to flag students you may want to track throughout the semester. Please Note: The grade book needs to be up to date (applying zeros to overdue items) to accurately display student grades.

  • Last Login: Checks last login status of currently enrolled students. This tool also has quick click notification to easily notify students who haven't engaged in a while.

  • Student Persona: Student Persona provides a more detailed view of your students. It contains the student's self-assessment profile (if available), if the student is registered for the next semester, if the student has taken the course previously, and direct contact information to the student's advisor. The “Registered Next Semester” populates 4 weeks before the end of the semester. If there is a FERPA waiver or block, it will be listed here as well.

  • Grade Preview: Allows faculty to review grades and feedback with students without risking a student seeing another student's grades or showing a student the entire grade book.

  • Submit Final Grades: This is the tab you will go to when you are ready to submit your final grades at the end of the semester.

  • Quick SparC: This tab allows you to SParC several students at one time.

  • More: In this tab, if your course uses Tutor.com you will see a link to the website.  In addition to that, within this tab you can create/print an attendance roster, track your discussions and find missing grades.
