Introduction

This guide explains how to embed a Panopto video. Embedding a video allows it to play directly on the page without requiring viewers to open a separate link. It improves accessibility and keeps the viewing experience seamless.

Step-by-Step

  1. Login to Panopto: St. Petersburg College Panopto Login
  2. Open your video in Panopto. This might be a video you recorded in Panopto, or it might be a video you recorded elsewhere and uploaded to Panopto.
  3. Click Share. In the video library, hover over the video and select the Share button.

  5. Edit Embed options (if needed):
    1. Aspect Ratio: dimensions of video
    2. Enable "Watch in Panopto": Enables viewers to open the video in Panopto directly
    3. Show Title: Shows the title of the video while it's playing
    4. Show Logo: Shows the Panopto logo while the video is playing
    5. Responsive embed: If toggled on, this option will automatically adjust the size of the video based on the size of the viewer's window, ie: smaller for mobile, etc.

  6. Select Copy Embed Code: This will copy the embed code for your video to your clipboard.

  7. Paste the Embed Code

    1. Navigate to the video's intended destination: If you're embedding a video in your Canvas course, navigate to the appropriate spot in Canvas. If you're embedding a video in your Instructor Page, navigate to your Instructor Page and edit it

    2. Paste the embed code into the page's HTML. The embedded player will be inserted.

    3. Save changes

Tips:

If your video doesn’t display, double-check that:

  • You selected Embed (not Link) in Panopto.

  • The video’s sharing permissions allow viewers in your course to access it.
