Panopto Video Hosting Platform’s Content Retention Policy, which may impact some of the video resources you utilize in your courses.


As part of our transition to Panopto, we adopted a storage management policy aligned with their recommendations. This policy includes the following key points:


1.      Videos that have not been viewed for the past 25 months will be moved to an Archive state.

2.      Videos in the archive that remain unviewed for an additional 3 years will be permanently deleted.


It's important to note that a significant number of videos (2,594 to be exact) are approaching this 25-month threshold and are scheduled to be archived on November 17, 2023. Many of these videos appear to be duplicates from our previous migration process or orphaned content, possibly shared among faculty members.


I want to emphasize that these videos have not been accessed in the last 25 months, but they can still be retrieved from the archive for an additional three years.


What This Means for You: If you discover that any of your course video links become disabled or inaccessible, it is likely due to this archival process. To address this, please reach out to us at Our team will assist in restoring access to any required videos promptly.
