Add a Quiz to the Gradebook and Allow Automatic Grading

What does "automatically update evaluations in grade book when published" mean? When this setting is enabled, the system can send auto-graded attempt scores directly to the grade book. This requires that a grade item is associated with the quiz. It also requires the quiz to be set to auto-grade. If you do not enable these setting, the grades will not move to the grade book automatically. 

Step-by-Step: 

  1. Click on Submission Review on the Navbar

  2. Click on Quizzes

  3. Click on the Name of the Quiz you wish to add to the gradebook

  4. Click on the Assessment tab

  5. Check Auto-Publish attempt results immediately upon completion


  6. Click on add grade item add grade item.png

    (If a grade item has already been created click on the dropdown arrow and find grade item)

  7. Name the Grade Item (Keep it the same as the title of the quiz)

  8. If you gradebook has categories, click the dropdown arrow and add the correct category. 

  9. Enter Maximum Points

  10. Click on Save 

  11. Check Automatically update evaluations in grade book when published , if you would like it to be graded automatically.

    Certain questions, particularly those in written form, cannot be assessed automatically and require manual grading.

  12. Check the box next to Allow automatic export to grades

  13. Click on Save and Close
