How to Set Up a Canvas Quiz Review Without Showing Correct Answers

Canvas allows you to control exactly what students can see after completing a quiz. This guide explains how to let students review their quiz questions, see which questions they missed, and without revealing the correct answers. This setup works really well if you want them to hand in corrections as a separate assignment, to further their learning.

How This Works with Respondus LockDown Browser

Unfortunately, with Canvas and New Quizzes (the quiz engine we use), there's no option to let students go into Respondus LockDown Browser to view their post-exam feedback and results. The only way to allow your students to do the above steps (review a past quiz) is to temporarily disable Respondus LockDown Browser.

  1. Inside your Canvas course, click LockDown Browser from your course navigation inside the Third Party Tools section.
  2. For the quiz in question, click the down arrow (1), and then select Settings from the dropdown menu (2).
lick the down arrow (1), and then select Settings from the dropdown menu (2
  3. Select Don't require LockDown Browser for this exam (1) and then select Save + Close (2).
Select Don't require LockDown Browser for this exam (1) and then select Save + Close (2).

Note: When you turn off Respondus after the fact, you temporarily lose access to the results area, where you can see flags and recordings of student test attempts. The results aren't gone. If you need to see them again, just reenable Respondus for the quiz and you'll be able to view them again.
