How do I add accommodations for a student in Quizzes?

You can give students extra time or reduce answer choices in New Quizzes. These accommodations apply to all quizzes for that student, and only one can be set at a time.

You can see accommodations in the Accommodations column or the Moderate panel. You can also adjust a single quiz attempt using moderation, which works on top of any accommodations.

Note: Quiz availability dates still apply. If the quiz closes before the student finishes, it will auto-submit even if extra time is allowed.

Step by step

  1. Select Quizzes.

  2. Find the Quiz > Click on the Three Dots.

  3. Select Build.

  4. Select the Moderate tab.

  5. Click the student’s name.

  6. From the Time adjustments menu choose one:

    • Give additional time: enter the extra hours and minutes.

    • Remove time limit (unlimited): the quiz becomes unlimited for that student.

    • Time limit multiplier: enter a multiplier (for example, 1.5 for time-and-a-half).

  7. Click Save to apply the settings.

  8. Check the student’s accommodations in the Accommodations column; it shows the cumulative settings.

Removing or Reducing Answer Choices

You can reduce the number of answer choices for multiple-choice questions with four or more options.

  1. In the Moderate tab, click the student’s name in the list.

  2. Turn on Reduced Answer Choices. This removes one incorrect answer from each question.

  3. Click Save or Apply to confirm.

  4. Review the student’s settings in the Accommodations column.
