This guide will show you how to use the Microsoft Teams Premium Transcripts feature, as well as, how to generate Microsoft Teams transcripts without the Premium version. Transcripts are a great way to keep track of conversations and important details discussed during meetings. Enabling you to enhance collaboration and productivity.
How to capture meeting transcripts WITH Microsoft Teams Premium
Step by Step:
1. Open and Sign into your Microsoft Teams Premium Desktop or Web App Account using your SPC credentials.
2. Start or join a meeting in Teams.
3. Click More | Record & Transcribe | Start Recording or Start Transcription.
Note: Start Recording will allow you to Record, Transcribe, and have AI Notes generated after the meeting is complete.
Start Transcription will ONLY allow you to transcribe the meeting. You will NOT get AI notes.
4. To view and save the transcripts, go to the meeting chat sidebar on the left. There you will see the conversation and any messages exchanged during the meeting.
5. To view and download the transcript, click the transcript icon or "View recap" button.
6. From here you can view and download transcripts as a docx or VTT file and/or review and copy the AI-generated notes.
Note: You use the search bar to look for specific keywords in the transcript, allowing you to pinpoint essential details more effectively. The recap can also look for mentions of your name in the transcript.
How to capture meeting transcripts WITHOUT Microsoft Teams Premium
Used only for transcription and not for AI-generated notes.
Step by Step:
1. Open and Sign into your Microsoft Teams Premium Desktop or Web App Account using your SPC credentials.
2. Start or join a meeting in Teams.
3. Click More | Start Transcription. Participants can access the transcript during the meeting by clicking on the "Show conversation transcript" button located in the meeting controls. Clicking this button will open the transcript in a separate window, allowing participants to view and interact with the transcript without interrupting the meeting.
4. Once the meeting is over, you can access the full transcript by going to the meeting chat and finding the transcript file shared by Microsoft Teams. Click the transcript file to open it and review the entire conversation, including timestamps and speaker names.
You can download the transcript as a text file for future reference or sharing with others who may have missed the meeting.
