Library & Videos
I removed a video from a course, or archived it. Can I get it back?
It depends which action you used. Remove from Course keeps the video in your My Library, just unembedded — go re-embed it. Archive moves it to your Archive folder, where you can Restore it. Only Delete Permanently (from the Archive folder) is unrecoverable.
If I archive and restore a video, does that fix broken links in the courses where it was embedded?
No. Archiving a video unlinks it from any courses it was embedded in — not just hides it. Restoring returns the video to your library, but it does not automatically re-link it inside your courses. You'll need to manually re-embed it wherever it was previously used.
Is there a limit to how much I can store in Studio?
There's no overall storage cap — the only real limit is 10GB per individual file upload.
Captions
My automatic captions are really inaccurate. Is something wrong?
Not necessarily — automatic captions struggle most with names, technical terms, background noise, and multiple speakers. A quick review and correction pass is expected, not a sign of a problem.
Can Studio caption videos I've linked from YouTube or Vimeo?
No. Studio can only auto-generate captions for videos uploaded or recorded directly in Studio — not for linked external videos.
Privacy & Sharing
Can students see other students' Studio videos?
Only if you've set up sharing or embedding in a way that allows it. By default, a student's Studio submission is visible to you as the instructor, not to their classmates, unless you've specifically configured a discussion or shared Collection to allow that.
Grading & Quizzes
A video quiz I made isn't showing a grade in the Gradebook. What did I do wrong?
Most likely, the quiz was embedded directly on a Page rather than set up as an assignment with External Tool submission — only the assignment method posts to the Gradebook automatically.
I embedded my Studio quiz and now want to fix a question — can I?
Yes, but you can't edit it in place. Update the question in your Studio video quiz settings, then re-embed the quiz into the assignment for the changes to take effect.
Can students retake a Studio quiz?
Yes — Studio quizzes don't have an attempt limit setting, so students get unlimited retakes as long as the assignment remains available/visible to them. There's currently no way to cap the number of attempts.
Can I add multiple questions at the same point in a video (e.g., between slides)?
Not currently — each question is tied to a specific point on the video timeline, so you can't stack multiple questions at the exact same timestamp. The workaround is to let the video play for a second or two between questions before adding the next one.
Can I prevent students from skipping past a video quiz question, like in Panopto?
No — Studio doesn't have that setting. The video will pause when a student reaches a question, but they can still move the timeline forward and skip past it. You can hide the question markers, but that doesn't stop them from skipping ahead.
Recording
Studio is asking for camera/microphone permission — what do I click?
Click either Allow while visiting this site or Allow this time to grant access.
To give access to your computer's microphone and camera, click either the Allow while visiting this site or Allow this time buttons.
