The following error appears when Canvas receives too much stored browser data (usually cookies) and cannot process the request. It is a browser-side issue and does not indicate a problem with Canvas itself or with your course content.
This issue is most common for faculty who stay logged into Canvas for long periods of time or who access multiple Canvas roles (instructor, admin, test accounts) from the same browser.
How to Fix the Issue
Clear Canvas Cookies
This resolves the issue in most cases and avoids clearing your entire browser history.
In Chrome
Stay on the page with the Bad Request
Right click your mouse.
Select Inspect
Select the Application tab
-
Open Storage
Select Cookies
Select Clear site data
Refresh the page and log back into Canvas
