For files stored in SharePoint and OneDrive, we will be changing the default sharing links and adding expiration dates to "anyone" links
Links for sharing files and folders will now default to "People you choose" instead of "Anyone". With this type of sharing link, you can share with people inside and outside of the organization by specifying their name, group, or email address.
Those other options will remain available to users, but by changing the default settings we expect to limit the amount of inadvertent file sharing. To access the sharing link options, you will need to click on the "Link settings" button.
Additionally, the "Anyone with the link" links will now require an expiration date. You can change the expiration date for the link, but it cannot be extended more than 180 days. There's also an option to include a password with anyone links. Once the links expire, new links would need to be recreated by the file owner and redistributed.
