This guide will explain how to set up an assignment for Copyleaks Plagiarism Checking in Canvas.
- Navigate to your course, then open the assignment you want to setup for Copyleaks Plagiarism detection in Canvas. You can access your assignments from two locations on the navigation bar: Modules and Assignments.
- Select Edit to open up the assignment settings.
- Scroll down to Plagiarism Review. By default, None will be selected. Open the dropdown menu and select Copyleaks Plagiarism Checker.
- The Copyleaks Quick Actions menu will open. You can edit the following Copyleaks settings in this menu:
- Upload exclusion templates (a document you want Copyleaks to exclude from plagiarism detection, for instance, an assignment template with questions, or a graphic organizer).
- Toggle on or off: AI Content Detection, Plagiarism, Writing Assistant
- If/when the report is shown to students
- Selecting Advanced Settings will open the full Copyleaks Assignment Settings Dashboard, which allows you to edit everything in the Quick Actions menu, with the addition of:
- Excluding certain internet sources
- Omitting quotes/citations from plagiarism detection
- Toggling on/off the internal database scan
- Adding supplemental languages to detect cross-language plagiarism
- Moderating what a student can view within the report
Click Save Settings when done.
NOTE: If you would like to use Copyleaks Teacher Scan Tool to scan student discussion posts for plagiarism and/or AI usage, please use the Copyleaks Teacher Scan Tool.
