How to Remove the Course Assignment Schedule from Simple Syllabus to Resolve Accessibility Issue

Introduction

This guide was created to address the pre-built Course Assignment Schedule table in Simple Syllabus because it does not meet accessibility requirements and prevents publication, even when table headers are added. This guide shows users how to remove the Course Assignment Schedule from Simple Syllabus, allowing the syllabus to be published successfully. The image below previews the areas covered in this article.

NOTE: This is in reference to the Course Assignment Schedule, NOT the Canvas Assignment Schedule that syncs the due dates from the assignments in your course.

Canvas Assignment Schedule (shown below with Orange highlights) changes to this schedule will disconnect it from your course forcing you to manually adjust dates etc.

Step by Step

  1. Select Simple Syllabus.

  2. Select the Exclamation point icon.
It's located next to the Preview button located at the bottom of the page.

  3. Simple syllabus will automatically scroll down to the Course Assignment Schedule.
The Accessibility Checker will be open on the right side of the browser window.

  4. Click inside the window for Course Assignment Schedule.
Press (Ctrl + A) to select all in the RCE window.
    Press the Delete key.

  5. Select the Toggle for the Course Assignment Schedule window to make this Category invisible.

  6. The Accessibility Checker on the right will have confetti showing you are Ready.
    Select Publish

  7. You are done!
