You can create a video within the HTML editor using the Video Note tool. The video will record from a Webcam only. It will not capture your screen. This is a useful tool for creating a short introduction video. This tutorial reviews adding a video to a module, news item, and in the feedback area.
Step-by-Step: Add a Video Note to a Module (Short Video)
- Click on Course Content on the Navbar
- Click on the Module where you would like to add the Video Note
- Click New
- Click on Create a File
- Click on the Insert Stuff Button on the right on the HTML Editor.
- Click on Video Note
- You should see a screen with what your Computer WebCam is viewing, Click on New Recording when you are ready
- Click on Stop Recording when you have finished your recording
- You can preview the video. If you want to redo click on New Recording, if you are happy with your results click on Next
- Enter a Title and a Description
- Next to Audio Language, select US - English
- Check the box, automatically generate captions from audio
- Click on Next
- Click on Insert
- Click on Publish
Step-by-Step: Add a Video to a News Item
- Click on the drop-down arrow next to News on your course home page
- Click New News Item
- Click on the Insert Stuff Button on the right on the HTML Editor
- Click on Video Note
- You should see a screen with what your Computer WebCam is viewing, Click on New Recording when you are ready
- Click on Stop Recording when you have finished your recording
- You can preview the video. If you want to redo click on New Recording, if you are happy with your results click on Next
- Enter a Title and a Description
- Next to Audio Language, select US - English
- Check the box, and automatically generate captions from audio
- Click on Next
- Click on Insert
- Click on Publish
Step-by-Step: Add a Video to Feedback
- Locate the submission in which you wish to add a video feedback, whether a dropbox submission or a discussion
- In the Feedback window, click the Plus Sign icon
- Click on Insert Stuff
- Select Add a video Note
- You should see a screen with what your Computer WebCam is viewing, Click on New Recording when you are ready
- Click on Stop Recording when you have finished your recording
- You can preview the video. If you want to redo click on New Recording, if you are happy with your results click on Next
- Enter a Title and a Description
- Next to Audio Language, select US - English
- Check the box, and automatically generate captions from audio
- Click on Next
- Click on Insert
- Click on Publish
Note: Video Notes are used for short videos to individuals, feedback, etc. If you are adding it to the whole class you will need to add a transcript or it will need to be Closed Captioned
