You can create a video within the HTML editor using the Video Note tool. The video will record from a Webcam only. It will not capture your screen. This is a useful tool for creating a short introduction video. This tutorial reviews adding a video to a module, news item, and in the feedback area.  

Step-by-Step: Add a Video Note to a Module (Short Video)

  1. Click on Course Content on the Navbar
  2. Click on the Module where you would like to add the Video Note
  3. Click New
  4. Click on Create a File
  5. Click on the Insert Stuff Button Symbol.pngon the right on the HTML Editor.
  6. Click on Video Note
  7. You should see a screen with what your Computer WebCam is viewing, Click on New Recording when you are ready
  8. Click on Stop Recording when you have finished your recording
  9. You can preview the video. If you want to redo click on New Recording, if you are happy with your results click on Next
  10. Enter a Title and a Description
  11. Next to Audio Language, select US - English
  12. Check the box, automatically generate captions from audio
  13. Click on Next
  14. Click on Insert
  15. Click on Publish

Step-by-Step: Add a Video to a News Item 

  1. Click on the drop-down arrow next to News on your course home page news dropdown.png
  2. Click New News Item
  3. Click on the Insert Stuff Button Symbol.png  on the right on the HTML Editor
  4. Click on Video Note
  5. You should see a screen with what your Computer WebCam is viewing, Click on New Recording when you are ready
  6. Click on Stop Recording when you have finished your recording
  7. You can preview the video. If you want to redo click on New Recording, if you are happy with your results click on Next
  8. Enter a Title and a Description
  9. Next to Audio Language, select US - English
  10. Check the box, and automatically generate captions from audio
  11. Click on Next
  12. Click on Insert
  13. Click on Publish

Step-by-Step: Add a Video to Feedback

  1. Locate the submission in which you wish to add a video feedback, whether a dropbox submission or a discussion
  2. In the Feedback window, click the Plus Sign icon

  3. Click on Insert Stuff

  4. Select Add a video Note
  5. You should see a screen with what your Computer WebCam is viewing, Click on New Recording when you are ready
  6. Click on Stop Recording when you have finished your recording
  7. You can preview the video. If you want to redo click on New Recording, if you are happy with your results click on Next
  8. Enter a Title and a Description
  9. Next to Audio Language, select US - English
  10. Check the box, and automatically generate captions from audio
  11. Click on Next
  12. Click on Insert
  13. Click on Publish

Note: Video Notes are used for short videos to individuals, feedback, etc. If you are adding it to the whole class you will need to add a transcript or it will need to be Closed Captioned
