Introduction
At St. Petersburg College, the Student Survey of Instruction (SSI) is a survey students fill out at the end of each course to provide feedback on their experience. All responses are completely anonymous. This guide contains information about the Student Survey of Instruction for faculty.
In 2026, St. Petersburg College switched to a new SSI system. None of the questions or the combined score groupings have changed; only the system itself has changed.

How to Access SSI as an Instructor
- Inside Canvas, select your profile photo in the Global Navigation (1) and then select SSI Course Evaluation (2).
- This brings you to the SSI Evaluations and Tasks page, where you'll see all of your courses. If you have only one, then you'll see only one, etc.
- Click on a course in the SSI Evaluations and Tasks page to open it.
Navigating Inside SSI
- Select Manage your Courses to see your courses (1).
-
Select Reports to view SSI reports (2).
- Note: SSI reports will be made available after the SSI survey closes for students.
- While your course's SSI is live, you'll see:
- Course name
- Respondents: Total number of students invited to respond in your class, as well as how many of them have started, responded, or opted out
- SSI evaluation end date
- Report link (though you won't be able to see the report until 2 weeks after the survey ends).
- What percentage of your students have responded
- Status (in this screenshot, SSI is live).
- Share Button (Click here to access a QR code. Many instructors like to project this QR code in an in-person class so students can scan it with their phones and fill it out right then and there).
-
After SSI closes and your SSI report is generated (which may take up to two weeks), you'll see:
- Downloadable PDF version of report
- Course Items
- Instructor Items
- Composite Scores
- Open-Ended Feedback
- Faculty are not able to edit the dates for SSI.
- If you notice response rates are low, we encourage you to post an announcement or send a Canvas Inbox message to remind students to fill out SSI.
SSI Reports in the Previous System
For terms 665 (Summer 2026) and beyond, SSI results are found in the reports area (see Navigating Inside SSI above). However, if you want to access your past SSI reports, the ones from the old system, please follow these directions:
- Navigate to Titan Hub, select the Faculty Resources dropdown (1) and then select Student Survey of Instruction (2).
- Inside the SSI Assessments portal, select the arrow next to Term (1) and select the appropriate term from the dropdown menu (2).
- Click the course code for the course results you'd like to see.
- View the results.
Note: Unlike our current system, which requires students to complete a separate survey for each instructor, the new system allows students to complete a single survey for all instructors associated with a course section. Students will answer one set of course-related questions, while instructor-specific questions will be repeated for each faculty member co-teaching the course. Responses related to an individual instructor will appear only in that instructor's report and will not be shared across reports for other faculty members teaching the same course section.
