MyCourses and Updates Widgets (Course Home Page)

There are two ways to view outstanding items from students in MyCourses: The Updates Tool and the My Courses Widget. 


Updates Tool Vs. My Courses Widget

1. On the Course Home Page in any course shell, there is an Updates Tool that notifies you of how many ungraded items you have within a course, by item type. The Updates Tool on your Course Home Page will give you detailed information on what type of items need to be graded.

 

2. On the MyCourses Home Page (Click the blue MyCourses logo in the top left corner to return to the MyCourses Home Page) there is the My Courses Widget. This widget displays your courses and filters them by term, pinned or all. For each course, if there are unevaluated items from that course, an icon and number will appear with the type and amount of that item. 

 


From the MyCourses Home Page

  1. On the MyCourses Home Page (Click the blue MyCourses logo in the top left corner to return to the MyCourses Home Page) there is the My Courses Widget.
  2. For each course, you will see the number of unevaluated items by item type represented by an icon and a number. 
  3. Click the icon to be taken to the that area of that course (for example, clicking the dropbox icon will take you to list of dropboxes in that course).

From Any Course on the Course Home Page 

  1. Click on Located on your Course Home Page, you will now see an Updates Widget.

  • This updates widget will display the following information. Clicking on the alert will take you to the specified area.

    • Number of Unread discussion messages

    • Number of New Emails

    • Number of Ungraded Quiz Attempts

    • Number of Quizzes Not Attempted

    • Number of New Dropbox Submissions

    • Number of Dropbox Submissions with Unread Feedback

    • Number of Broken Links

 


Student View

  1. Click on your Course Icon.
  2. Located on your Course Home Page, you will now see an Updates Widget. updates widget 2.png
    • This updates widget will display the following information. Clicking on the alert will take you to the specified area.
      • Number of Unread discussion messages
      • Number of New Emails
      • Number of Quizzes Not Attempted
      • Number of Dropbox Submissions with Unread Feedback
