Hello,

As your faculty member for this course, I want to ensure that you are kept up-to-date on the current situation and what it means for this class. SPC campuses are currently closed and are expected to reopen on [insert estimated date here]. To maintain communication, we will continue this course on MyCourses until SPC campuses reopen.

What do you need to do?

During this time, you should take the following steps:

  • Check MyCourses regularly for emails from their faculty members.
  • Check MyCourses for updates about the status of SPC campus operations.
  • Don’t know how to use MyCourses?  Check out Introduction to MyCourses for a quick overview of the system.
  • Have a question or two about MyCourses? Check out the MyCourses Support site for helpful tutorials on MyCourses and its tools.
  • Also, make sure to sign-up for the Emergency Alert System to stay updated!

What will I do?

As the faculty member for the course, I will be communicating with you in MyCourses via email and course news items.

[Below are recommended topics for faculty to discuss]

  • Estimated time the college will be closed
  • Upcoming assignment deadlines/changes - will approaching deadlines to be delayed?
  • Changes to how work will be submitted - will students be expected to submit work in another format (i.e. via the Dropbox tool in MyCourses)? As you set this policy, please remember that 70% of SPC students live in Pinellas County. Depending on the type of emergency, some may be more heavily impacted and require special consideration.
  • Expectations for communication - how often will you check email and respond to student questions?
