Rubrics are used to evaluate an activity or item based on a predefined set of criteria. They help ensure that activities and items are evaluated fairly and consistently. This tutorial reviews grading a discussion post using a rubric.
Step-by-Step:
- Click on Grades on the Navbar
- Click on the drop-down arrow next to the grade item
- Click on Enter Grades
- Click on the discussion icon in the submission column for the student you wish to grade (This will open in a new window)
- The rubric will appear at the top of the new window, and the student's post and replies will appear at the bottom of this window
- Grade the submission using the rubric by clicking on the levels you wish to award the students. You can adjust the scores manually for those in-between grades by clicking the grade for each criteria and input your adjustments.
- There are two areas to add additional feedback; by criteria or overall general feedback
-
Feedback by Criteria - Click on Criterion Feedback below each criterion and there you can type in your feedback.
If you place feedback in this area, click Close when you are done and then Update.
-
Overall Feedback - For general overall feedback, add in the Overall Feedback text box.
If you place feedback in this area, know that you are limited to 300,000 characters now vs 500,000.
-
Note: If it is more than 300,0000 characters or if an invalid value is added, a tooltip message will appear that says, "There is one or more errors in the information entered."
Click Publish when you are done
-
Feedback by Criteria - Click on Criterion Feedback below each criterion and there you can type in your feedback.
