Sending an Inbox Message to All Students in your Canvas Course

This guide demonstrates how to send a message through Canvas Inbox to all students in your course. 

Step-by-Step

  1. Navigate to SPC's Canvas instance. 
  2. Select Inbox from the Global Navigation on the left side of the screen. 
  3. Select the Compose button in the top right corner. 
  4. Select the down arrow to view your courses (1). Select the course for which you'd like to send a message to all students (2).

  5. Click inside the To field (1). From the dropdown menu, you can select if you'd like to send a message to Everyone in the course (2), Teachers in the course (3), Students in the course (4), or Student Groups (5). Depending on what you select, you may be given the option to drill down more (for instance, if you select Student Groups, you'll have the option to select a specific student group). 
  6. In the Compose Message window, type a subject (1), type a message (2), and select Send to send the message.
