This guide will provide more information about the Respondus LockDown Browser settings.

Please pay close attention to the settings when you are preparing your Quiz inside Respondus LockDown Browser.

IMPORTANT: LockDown Browser & Respondus Monitor – Start of Semester Reminder

At the beginning of each semester, instructors should open the LockDown Browser Dashboard and verify that all exam settings are correct and active in their course and don't forget to click Save.

When a course is copied, LockDown Browser and Respondus Monitor settings may not be fully activated until the Dashboard is accessed and reviewed.

If settings are not verified before students begin testing, exams may be accessible through a standard web browser without requiring LockDown Browser or the webcam check.

Please review the Dashboard and confirm your quiz and exam settings are enabled prior to the first scheduled assessment.

Enable Respondus LockDown Browser in your Canvas course.

Settings to Pay Extra Special Attention to:

1. There are a few areas where you can choose to edit the text that a student will see. Please read the default text and click Edit Text if you wish to change it and make it more applicable for your test.

2. Notice under Advanced Settings, there is an option to Lock students into the browser until their quiz is completed/they have submitted it for grading. This optional setting should have a default setting of "off". When set to off, students have to provide a reason before submitting the quiz.

You DO NOT have to check this box. However, if you do decide to check it you can enter a password (that you will need to communicate to students) that allows students to exit the exam early.
