Introduction
This guide outlines the process for setting up badges/credentials in Canvas using the Parchment Badges tool. Moving forward, St. Petersburg College is implementing stricter oversight of badges/credentials, as they are now public-facing and represent SPC as an institution. This marks a change from previous procedures, and we appreciate your cooperation as we transition to this new process.

How to: Fix Parchment Badge Sync Issues
If a Parchment Badge isn't awarding correctly, the badge's grading trigger may need to be resynced with Canvas. This can occasionally happen when badges are copied or reused from one course to another.
- Open the Canvas course that the badge is connected to and navigate to Third Party Tools > Parchment Badges.
- There will be an exclamation point next to the badge requirement that's not working correctly (1). Click the exclamation point to verify that a sync is needed (2). Select the name of that badge (3).
-
Click Edit Requirements.
- On the Requirements page, scroll down to the Specify requirements section (1) and click the Sync Trigger with Canvas Grading button (2).
- Click Save Changes.
The badge should now be properly synced and function as expected.
