How to Restore Deleted Content in Canvas

When working in Canvas, it’s possible to accidentally delete content such as assignments, quizzes, or modules. Fortunately, Canvas allows you to recover recently deleted content using a hidden feature. This guide will walk you through the process of recovering deleted items.

Accessing the Restore Page

Canvas provides an option to restore deleted content by accessing a special page known as the "Undelete" page. This page lists recently deleted items from your course, making it easy to restore them.

Steps to Recover Deleted Content

Begin by navigating to your course in Canvas. In the URL bar at the top of the screen, locate your course's web address. It should look something like this:

  1. Add "/undelete" to the end of the URL.

Important Notes:

  • Only content that has been recently deleted will be available for recovery. If too much time has passed or the course has been reset, this option may not be available.

  • You cannot restore entire modules, but individual items within the module can be restored.
