This guide reviews adding ALT tags to images in MyCourses. Anytime you add a photo to a course, whether it be a course banner, within an announcement, or within a file in a module, an Alternative Text Tag should be added.

Step-by-Step:

  1. Click on the Insert Image icon on the HTML Editor Tool Bar

  2. Locate the picture you wish to upload

  3. Click on Add

  4. You will see a popup window: Enter an Alternative Text for your photo (You will need to add an ALT Text for any type of image)

  5. If you dragged and dropped the image, click the image after you have placed it in MyCourses. You will see a small toolbar of options appear below or above the photo

  6. Click the small icon of a photo to edit photo options

  7. Add your alternative description (a descriptive sentence)

Writing good ALT tags takes practice. You want to be short and concise, but also descriptive in your text.

    Example Image:

    example image.png

Good Example: Picture of Abraham Lincoln delivering his Gettysburg Address in front of a large crowd

Poor Example: Man in front of a crowd
